Fossils

The record of Orbulina suturalis by Bhalla and Dev (1975) from the limestone bed suggests an age not older than 14 Ma (not older than Middle Langhian of Middle Miocene. The discovery of Late Miocene suid T. intermedius from shale overlying the limestone is significant, as it suggests an age range of 10-8 Ma.

Age

The integration of above points validates that the Baripada beds belong to Middle to Late Miocene age.
